It seems Old Grumpy Cat is not too fond of rafles, pistons and other weapons that go BANG and make smoke. And he's going to tell everyone about his displeasure. And then he will tell them again. And again. And again.

On a serius note thoguh, I´ll have to agree with grandpa here. War at a distance only makes targets of the enemy, while only by hand to hand combat you get a real sense of your capabilities. At the very least war can have an honor code in such conditions. Almost as if fire arms are the nuclear weapons of personal combat. Highly effective damage can be made with very little training. So it levels the arena for bullies and bullied equally.
...heh, on the other hand, I guess its preferable to die instantly, or having to remove some bullets from your loin, than losing an arm, hand or a leg to a blade of metal, and survive. ...I guess.

That's one way. Another, more easily accomplished way, is to live past the age of 50. I had an NCO when I was in the USAF who had the disease in a progressed state. "I remember when I was paid $50.00 a month and was able to save $25.00 of it." That was when I was stationed in the Bay Area of California and was paid $900.00 a month when the average local pay was $900.00 a week and he had the audacity to tell me that I was having too many financial problems to allow me to re-enlist.
"Back in my day you had to shine a laser onto a target and wait for a multi million dollar fighter jet to fly over and drop a multi-million dollar computer controlled coordinated by space satellites bomb... Now.... Now we just say mean things about each other on Twitter"
To be fair to the old man I good bowman raised from a young age can hit you at 200 yards and shoot 12 arrows a minute, some a lot more and if you have no armour your buggered by bow or ball
But if you go up against plate armour musket wins out by far
So light/no armour tribal warfare bows are probs better assuming you have a warrior culture that train their young to use heavy bows from a young age
But against armour and heavy shields you are screwed XD
Plus you don't have to train for a decade to use a musket well
And all the humans have heavy armour right? So if you want to protect your land, musket is king

There's an old saying, I've learned to take heart in "Fear an old man, in occupation where men die young"
I recall my Akido master (Guy was in his 60's) Flat level a man who was 3 times his size with minimal force.
It was amazing seeing a 5'5" man at maybe 110lbs throw a man 6'3" possibly 250+ lbs around like a rag doll.
It eventually ended when my master gave him his tenth chance to give up. When the guy lunged, small twist of his body
master, sent this dude's face straight into a brick wall
That frail old fighter might be annoying..okay IS annoying but, he might have something to teach.
