Yay! My first drawing of an otter! Not too bad if I do say so myself ^^
Once again I cheaped out on a background because I didn't feel like taking the time to make a nice lineart lol, but I think it turned out rather well, don't you?
I like this character enough that he may actually appear again, although I wouldn't hold me to it if I were you XP
Anybody who has any suggestions on what I could improve for next time, please tell me XD, I'm not so good at these critters yet.
(oh, and it was hard to do his head at this angle, even though very little is showing it took me forever to make it look like his muzzle instead of a block of wood)

Back muscles can be an interesting challenge to do if you don't address them that often. In this case, I think you pulled it off quite nicely. :3
The char himself looks great, and the background actually works pretty well when it's not inked like this. That way, it's decorated in such a way that compliments the character, but doesn't distract from him. The only thing I might suggest is lowering the level of the ocean so that 's not so high up there... it's a bit inconsistent insofar as the angle and POV of the Otter. Also, the stars are reflected, but not the moon.

Yeah, you're right about the water level being way to high, I don't know how I missed that, or how other people have failed to mention that (thanks guys). As to the moon, I left it out deliberately. I wanted it to seem like the horizon was too bright and reflecting of the water just at the right hue that the moons reflection was lost.
