Holy shit! You're better at drawing tornadoes than I am...and I'm scared of the things @_@

Hehe.... I've been fascinated with storms since I was really little. Back then I was scared to death of them too. However, with education came understanding, and with understanding the fear changed to a healthy respect.

I'm frightened by them because a tornado came through my town about four years ago, almost wiping it off the map...after that I was in a few false alarms, like last week where I was in three tornado warnings all in one hour, but it's still a serious situation to deal with ._.

In 1990 the outskirts of Bedford Indiana, where my family lives, was leveled to the ground by a quarter-mile wide F4 tornado. It was part of Indiana's biggest tornado outbreak ever. That event stuck with me.

Yeah. There was one death associated with that tornado. It was a baby that had been left alone in a trailer. Depressing that most of the people in that town are apathetic white trash. Frankly, the mother should've been the one to die.

That's kind of how my fascination began. I'll admit, my first couple of tornadic storms in OK scared the bejeezus out of me, but learning about them helped me immensely.

If you haven't read it yet, I highly reccommend "The Tornado" by Thomas Grazulis. It's the best book out there on the subject.

Tom Grazulis is kind of the guru of tornado history.
Indiana isn't a place most people think of as a hotbed of tornado and severe storm activity, but it's suprisingly active. I now live in Ohio, where it's mostly drab. Being part of Skywarn isn't as fulfilling here. But I guess that's a good thing, because there are fewer communities in danger (except Xenia).

You'll hate me. I used to work on the same airport as NSSL in Norman, OK. It was amazing to drive by there every day. Too bad the lab will be moving to the new building at OU (if they haven't already). I wish I still lived there.

You'd be surprised at the activity in Ohio, though. I grew up in PA and saw a few tornadoes there. A few summers in the mid-90s were pretty damn freaky.

Yeah, Ohio can be unpredictable. We had two tornadic storms a week apart in October. My hail video from the first storm got me on the 11 o'clock news (well, my footage).

I live in N.C. and we don,t get as many tornadoe here.But we do have them.Some are small and don,t stay on the ground long.But we do get some that pack a punch and a half.And stay on the ground and take out alot of homes.But i gues that nature for ya.
