Far beyond the Imperium's borders, in the outer rings, there is an ancient empire - second in age and grandeur only to Alcanti itself. Travelers from its worlds bring stories of great megastructures and cities built atop cyclopean ruins; of strange gene-crafted creatures, feasts, duels, and many-armed dancers. They speak of wonders in robotics and biotech, a dazzling array of colours and sounds, and the people who have created it all. The phoenix-folk, the travellers call them - refined, fierce, proud, yet strangely melancholic, as if living past their prime.
In their natural state, the pouz-jok are a humanoid species five to seven feet tall, with four arms and two legs. Their curved beaks and feathered bodies suggest descent from predatory avians, and though they have long since lost their capacity for flight, their retained wiry frames and strong forearms from their airborne ancestors. Their reflexes are quick, their senses keen and their movements precise and powerful - though they can't match draknir in brute strength or zashani in ferocity.
Yet even in their diminished state, the Freeholds still stand tall and proud. Though diminished they retain a complex, storied culture and many brilliant minds. More importantly, they remain as assured as ever of their grand destiny.
I've bene making progress with friends on content for Imperium Draknir and recently we have content complete for one of the major species of the setting. There is a lot to cover about them so I'll be rolling out details over the coming couple of weeks. So if you like the four-armed gene-enthusiasts, definitely stay tuned for that.
The full post introducing the pouz-jok, their storied history and their biology, is currently available for early access viewing by my Patrons. With public release coming on Thursday. But I'm happy to answer questions best I can about them.
