In the past couple months, I decided to overhaul Askan (and his species) to change with each season, to further highlight his nature as a fey.

In the winter his fur grows to its thickest, and turns a snowy white while other features become an icy blue. His magic in this state is more geared towards cold, frost, ice and the like. By this point he's more of a cold-blooded logic sort, focused on survival and food. He grows quite territorial and aggressive, until spring comes to bring him back to his normal self.
