Thylacine stripes wouldn't go that far up the back >3>

Actually, it was recorded that in younger Thylacines, the striped did in fact go all the way up the back, and about midlife, they began to fade.

Not technically. The longest recorded Thylacine lifespan was 9 years, 131 days, so he would be 2, or 3, if he were to age as a normal Thylacine. However, assuming that a Human lifespan also comes with becoming an anthropoid, that would make him between 17 and 21, bit of a gap there, but meh. (Assuming that 'Young' for the person in question is considered to be between 13, and early 20-ish.)
