Riding hood's shadow 2
There was still some daylight to make sure wasn't wasted. She had seen a few paths around the cabin, surely one would lead to water, one of the priorities to start with. She choose the most used looking path she could see and made sure to keep on it, lest she get lost and not be able to make her way back to the cabin. This whole area was completely foreign to her so she'd have to be careful and keep track of her location.
After about 20 minutes she was worried this pathway wasn't going to lead to water at all. This pathway was well worn into the ground so it had to lead to something of interest as she continued. Was another 15 minutes before she found anything of interest.
A long stretch of bushes weaved through the trees, covered in reddish blue berries. She crouched down in front of one of the bushes to examine the berries. They seemed ripe but she wasn't familiar with them. She plucked one off the bush and looked it over then looked around the area, the ground was well worn as the pathway stretched straight into this grove. Was this where that path was leading to?
She was nervous to try them, but she'd need some source of food she could rely on. Closing her eyes she tossed the berry into her mouth and chewed, it had a mildly sweet taste. after a few chews she swallowed, opening one eye. She didn't feel strange or like it had been poisonous at all. After a few minutes she figured these must be fine to eat. Now pleased with her find she held up the apron on her skirt and started to fill it with picked berries.
Walking along the bushes as she collected she pondered the best ways to use or prep the berries for her needs. Lost her her thoughts she didn't notice something buried in the dark green leaves, until her hand brushed against it. Startling her out of her thoughts as she looked down. The strange mass stirring after her hand brushed across it, before slowly starting to rise out of the bushes before her.
