The legend of Hōfuku no shojo.
"Once upon a time there was a young maiden. She was sweet and diligent. She lived with her father, an old samurai.
Once, on a night walk, the father and daughter were attacked by bandits who wounded the father and beat the maiden to death. The bandits fled and left the old samurai to mourn the dead body of his daughter.
An old samurai took his daughter under a lonely sakura on a hill where three foxes lived. Red, white and black. He put the body under a tree and then left the hill.
The samurai returned the next night to pay tribute to his daughter. At this time, the sakura itself began to bloom, and under it sat a black figure, which was surrounded by three foxes. The black figure only sat quietly, freezing.
And at one point she said - "Father .. I'm cold." And the white fox brought her a kimono. The fox merged with the figure and she get a kimono with a white fox's tail.
"Father... I can't feel my face," said the maiden. And the red fox brought her a fox mask. The fox merged with the figure, and she get a mask with the head of a red fox.
“Father... I feel helpless,” said the maiden. And the black fox snatched the katana from the samurai and brought it to the black figure. The fox merged with the figure, and she got fox legs and arms, in which she held a katana.
"Father... I feel... hate," said the maiden. And with a light jump, she jumped onto the highest branch of cherry blossoms. She pushed off it, and flew with ease in the wind towards the village, like a cherry blossom petal, in search of her retribution.
Appearing every night at the lonely sakura, she relentlessly searches for her killers. And she will not find peace until she reaches her goal, in one way or another. "
... But we know that everything is not so simple.
We know that reality is much more complicated than a simple legend.
