Maria stared in startled silence as the creature rose, towering over her easily. Turning its head toward her as it stood up, causing her to stumble backwards and fall onto the ground, her collected berries scattering around her. She had always heard tales of great monsters and beasts lurking in the forest at night to eat any villager who wondered too far, but here was a creature of those tales before her in the middle of the day. She had delivered herself straight to it unknowingly.
For what felt like forever they stared at each other in silence, before the creature gave a short snort and stirred from its spot. Leaning forward as extended a long arm from the bushes. Its massive claws digging into the ground as it moved forward towards her.
