Made this a little earlier when I first made the poll about tusks/teeth... At first I felt it would be too ugly and kind of kill the appeal of him, but thanks to my style it actually works (and in some cases makes him look more like an eastern dragon)... But it now brings up even more questions about what I should do.
Would it be better to just go with a regular old croco/gator (forgoing the horns, having shorter brows and ears, and no magical abilities), or to just stick with the oni/dragon characters? Because if I actually want to do anything with these characters, having a bit of believable world building going on in their backstories is necessary. And developing a magical system of any kind, as well as dealing with magical creatures can require a lot of work... And it's all kind of pointless if you're not doing stories with lots of adventure and the epics as opposed to say, mystery, romance, and comedy.
Of course, some of you wonder why I just don't draw humans instead. Well, as easy as that would be to do and as much as I love the human forms of Helena and Amoxcui, Artie is kind of a character that we're all tired of seeing of. Sure, he may be the nicest bisexual dandy punk to walk the planet, but we're all sick of grizzled white guys being heroes all the time. At least an orc/demon like monster or a reptilian character being the hero/likeable anti-hero is breathing some fresh air into the scene for once in a world full elven heroes or fuzzy champions.
