Meet my OC :) I finally drew a somewhat decent reference.
Their name is Martelle and they're not a weird-looking rabbit, but an alien shapeshifting "mouse". (Not an earthian mouse, an alien one!) This mice race on their planet Kelwakar is something that possesses features not only of earthian mice, but also features vaguely resembling those of earthian owls and lizards. The ear form varies among species and is determined by the area of habitat. Around the planet there are many different kelwakarian subspecies showing unique characteristics appearance-wise which had developed under certain climate conditions and local geography. Martelle's family comes from the northern regions, the mice living there have long, fluffy, a bit pointy "rabbit" ears, thick fur and long thick lizard tails. The wings they have are strong and durable albeit rudimentary, not allowing them to fly. The southern mice have rounder, shorter and less fluffy ears, more like those of regular earthian mice. Their tails are also shorter and thinner.
Kelwakar's mice haven't always been able to shapeshift. They discovered the ability when first came into contact with human race and have been using it ever since to look more humanoid and therefore more appealing to humans.
As it was mentioned above, kelwakarians have feathery owlish wings, though only present in true form. Humanoid form doesn't leave space for wings since those merge into normal human hands.
There are kelwakarians who strongly oppose the idea of shapeshifting, committing to their true form instead, which they find super attractive and much more beautiful than that of a human. But that particular mindset is mostly common among the older kelwakarians who still harbour some hostility towards humans. The younger ones are more open-minded, willing to cooperate and more eager to work alongside their human friends and colleagues.
The average lifespan of a kelwakarian is considerably longer compared to an earthian. Roughly twice as long. A kelwakarian can live up to 200 Earth years.
Martelle is a journalist, uses they/them pronouns, is fascinated with humans and left Kelwakar for Earth. Generally a bit shy and introverted, but loves exploring the world and meeting new people.
