*laughs* If I ever get as shallow as Sandi Griffin, then someone put me out of my misery! Actually, his "sin" wasn't his appearance, but something a bit harder to catch, such as his love for a male companion.
It's hard to make out, but I put the colors of the gay pride flag onto the stained glass behind him doing a sort of "figure 8." That and the golden cross he's holding I used to subliminally describe the inner battle that's being waged inside of him. Also, his appearance is partially intended to make him appear out of place and to further hint at the stereotypical "fag" that you occasionally saw on 1990's TV in the US. He's obviously out of place in the cathedral, but yet he holds the very symbol of Christendom, albeit uncomfortably.
I drew this when I was having some issues with my sexual orientation and a repressive flavor of Christianity (think Jerry Falwell, only stricter) that I used to belong to, and this was a reflection of the feelings of uncertainty I had at the time. The message itself is intentionally vague as I used to have this image up on my wall while still living with my parents. I didn't feel comfortable letting them in on the whole gay/furry/etc parts of myself, as I didn't think they would take it very well... Anyway, I hope that kinda clarifies what this is about!
