More portraits of forgotten and unused characters, this time featuring wolverine gal Verona, a character I drew a couple of times in 2018 but never really did much with.

Find Me On:
Fur Affinity ◈ Weasyl A pudgy, ditzy wolverine, the only thing emptier than Verona's head might be her stomach. Like a lot of my characters, she started off as a one-off design I never intended to really do much with, but something about her really grew on me... although apparently not enough to keep me drawing her with any regularity.
Despite being quite the airhead, she's actually quite musically inclined, and plays guitar.
Her and my other underutilized wolverine character, the equally dopey and gluttonous Barry, would probably get along quite well (while I had initially considered making Barry and Orsola a couple a few years back, and Barry's work as a delivery driver maybe getting him into some shenanigans with the big mama bear, I think Verona and Barry would make a cute couple and I might use those ideas as part of the relationship between the two wolverines instead), and I can totally see her being friends with the equally pudgy and ditzy Dominika too. I remember she was fairly popular a few years back, and I remember you were quite interested in her back on DA.
A shame I never really did much with her, because I really liked her look back then, and I still really like her look now. Pudgy, dopey, and a really nice color palette to boot. One of the downsides of just drawing whatever comes to mind seems to be that I often wind up forgetting about otherwise promising characters--but it's that same sort of spontaneity that lets me come up with characters like her in the first place.

Thank you very much! Yet another instance of me taking what is supposed to be a majestic creature and turning it into a pudgy doofus--but I can't help it when wolverines are downright adorable.
I have strange taste in animals I suppose...
I know the feeling of having a bunch of underused and forgotten characters, and how great it feels to bring them back out. One thing I love is rediscovering a character I didn't put too much thought into at the time, and realizing I suddenly have all sorts of ideas for them, or there's a niche in-universe they'd fit perfectly into. I do worry that my impulsive and spontaneous way of creating things leads to a lot of promising ideas being neglected or never fully realized, but I find that it's the weird and spontaneous designs that often seem to work out the best--Skunk Boy was a one-off parody of sorts from a decade ago, little Manhaar was just a critter design I came up with on a whim and nearly sold as an adoptable design, I never really planned on designing an entire world around the Ridgebacks or having a devilish antelope/goat creature become the basis for my universe's Old Ones and tying a lot of the sci-fi/fantasy elements together.
I guess leaving some characters on the back burner for a while is a small price to pay, and just because I may forget about them for a while doesn't mean I can't ever go back and develop them more later, I suppose!

That's great news! I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Perhaps I should do the same, or perhaps create some more new things and see where they go, as it feels like despite my frequent forays into drawing portraits of forgotten characters to refresh them in my mind, I feel like I've become stuck in a rut of drawing the same few characters and situations and it's really killed my motivation.
