Here's the companion character to Karla. I created Gregor's design immediately after hers, but he hasn't been redrawn as much lol. It's not exactly a secret I draw a lot less male characters in comparison than female ones. There's no straight forward type of bat that he's based on, but I think he's somewhat close to a pallid bat on facial structure while being close to a fruit bat in terms of fur color.
There's still plenty of writing and such to do for the kingdom he and Karla rule over, but aesthetically its a hazy mix of influences from Germany to Romania....the setting is somewhat based on some elements of Castlevania...just like Gregor himself. Maybe a name will come to me one of these days.
The political dynamic of the royal couple sits Gregor as the overseer of international relations and armed forces, while his wife has complete agency over disputes and issues going on inside the nations borders. Neither of them are exclusive to these roles, but that's mostly where their strengths lie. They work and communicate together a lot more often than their own citizens realize.
Gregor has grown up in a family with numerous brothers, of which he's the second youngest. In their prime ages the Valcadar siblings were highly competitive, as to be expected of those whom could possibly inherit the throne. Growing up, Greg would actively steer himself away from the political rat race, his natural feelings telling him that the rivalries amongst his siblings would eventually turn hostile and malignant. Sure enough his intuition would save him from both the aggressive/warmongering brothers and the conniving and manipulative ones. The young noble would develop into becoming altruistic and somewhat humble (by comparison) and would hold a good argument for his claim to not seek the throne nor a seat of high power.
Obviously this would become poetically ironic in that during a period of almost complete anarchy, Gregor would eventually strive to put the kingdom back to order...with an irreplaceable ally in Karla whom he'd fall in love with and marry in tandem of taking the crown. Some of his family remain and mostly support him, but as expected there are some who conspire behind their backs. In terms of personality, Greg is contemplative, unceremonious and reserved but shows a shocking amount of emotional intelligence. He knows a good amount of the trades of labor, combat, farming and just a bit of cooking. He has a small passion for fighting, but holds it as more of a sport than a philosophy or a solution. His wife joyfully indulges herself in the glamorous fashions and lifestyle of being a ruler, but Greg is perfectly comfortable in his 'count/vampire' looking attire and seldom will look the part of king. He's almost always seen as kind if not overly polite, but there's a small, subtle hint of a wrathfulness and asperity than can be drawn out of him if the conditions are bad enough. People have been known to disappear if were to ever incur this emotion out of him.
That's a lot to type, please forgive any spelling or grammatical errors.
