The 41rst Monster in order of appearance, Robot Beast Zaran was the monster of the week in Ep.36 of the Jeeg Tv series. Its only major abilities were missile launchers located under the chest plates, and emitted Fire Rings from the arms. The tentacles served no purpose and likely were just display. It was Grey and Green in color, with Tentacles on top of its head and possessed red color eyes.
Zaran had small screen time, appearing in the middle of the Episode attacking the city, and didn't appear again until the end for his brief final battle with Jeeg.
Much of the episode was largely focus (at one end) on General Flora trying to use Hiroshi's humanity as weakness, fighting against him twice; On the other end, a wheelchair bound young girl named Hiromi, who is suffering from Leukemia, desires to see flowers bloom, and Hiroshi tries to make her dream come true.
Flora chooses this to pin this as her fight against Hiroshi's believes in love for Humanity...
The first time, she almost succeeded, when she froze Cyborg Hiroshi (the latter protecting a dark color rose, which Hiromi likes) but was stop by MechaDon2, and Flora is force to retreat.
Not long after she sends Zaran to attack. Big Shooter tries to take the monster down with no avail.
Flora then fights Hiroshi a 2nd time and after losing to him, he calls her a demon, something she protest and discloses to him her origin, having been a young girl in ancient Japan, when she died in an attack on her clan at the hands of Dragon's Robot Soldiers, when trying to save a small wolf cub – her clan and family were subsequently killed, but she was resurrected by Emperor Dragon, who taught her that love was an Illusion and believing in it is what got her killed, thus beginning her service under him. After she gets recalled, and leaves, Hiroshi hears Hiromi's mother crying, the little girl having passed away sometime in the middle of the night. Afterwards, he heads out to fight Zaran, in what was a brief encounter, disposing of it by blasting a leg off with Spin Storm, and finishing the monster with The Coup of Grace Spear – a weapon that comes with the Pantheroid Mode.
After the battle, Hiroshi and Michi are at Hiromi's grave, paying their respects.
Quick Note: The story really is a vehicle to contrast Flora's and Hiroshi's motives and believes on what they fight for; The former (Flora) having died in an attack on her tribe by Robot Soldiers (plus Wolves) and been resurrected by Dragon, who taugh her emotions is what got her killed, so she forsakes all love as nothing but an Illusion, which becomes a core to her believes for 100's of years; While the latter (Hiroshi, along with the other characters) wanted to give hope and joy to a young sick girl in what was the tail end of her young life.
