This is my still closed species, middle-level predators, widespread almost everywhere.
Appearance of the creature
They have no eyes, but a very keen sense of smell. Some (common and cavemen) can be guided by heat.
They have strong, flexible bodies, four-fingered limbs and, as their name implies, smooth, strong skin and the ability to run long and fast.
They do not have sexual demorphism, the size of all species is roughly the same - from 70 to 80 centimeters at the withers, 2 or 2.50 centimeters in length (including the tail).
On the table above each variety there is a small color scale - these are the colors that can color different individuals, it is labeled as "body".
There is another scale on the right, it shows the colors in which the individual's accents are painted, "spots".
An ordinary smooth skin has two of them, because one shows the color of the growths (red) and the second shows the corresponding color of the spots (green)
Flock
Smooth-skinned runners can breed with each other, creating hybrid infertile offspring. It has weaker health, and may also lose the benefits of both parents or increase them.
Smooth-skinned runners can communicate with other subspecies, although such encounters are rare due to the nature of their habitats. They willingly communicate with unfamiliar Smooth-skinned and are friendly to them, if the stranger does not behave aggressively.
They have a fairly simple hierarchy in groups - a ruling couple that actively reproduces and decides whether others can reproduce or not. The youngest offspring of that pair, the older cubs, then descend or leave the group to form their own flock.
Those outsiders who decide to join a group take a firm middle ground until they get along with someone.
Reproduction
During the breeding season (several weeks a year), males and females demonstrate their best qualities to each other - they skillfully get food, sing low and show how their skin shimmers in the sun.
When two Smooth-skinned decide they want to be together, they mate for life or until one of the partners dies.
Mating happens many times a season, they enjoy it and strengthen their bond with their partner. If the female has been fertilized, she bears up to ten eggs for three months, and then incubates them for another month or just makes sure that they are safe. The male helps her in this.
Unfortunately, despite all the efforts, only five out of ten eggs will hatch and only two out of five cubs will grow successfully.
They and people
Cubs of smooth-skinned runners are easy to tame but require a lot of care and attention. You will not be able to keep the aquatic subspecies in the desert, and the rocky subspecies on the plain.
Adults will never accept you in a flock, but they can get used to your presence as long as you do not behave aggressively. Then the whole flock will drive you away.
Other
Despite all of the above, smooth-skinned runners remain poorly understood, especially their rocky and cave subspecies due to the inaccessibility of their habitats.
So the information can be supplemented or changed.
The rules for these creatures will remain unchanged, however - not to claim that you created a species or a specific individual. You cannot breed them without my permission, but you can mate without offspring. You can fit them into your settings.
Perhaps in the future I will sell other individuals of this species.
These rules do not apply to the winners of the "birthday" lottery, if they themselves do not want to. Once they have accepted them, they cannot refuse.
