English translation:
The snow fades the light
But everlasting night
Suppressed by Sun's might
Shall await Moon's twilight.

Headstrong frost he strides
Unto the wind he rides
His force never hides
His journey Winter guides.


So I wrote the poem in English first, and then translated it into Norwegian while maintaining the meter, rhyme-scheme (and line syllable count), and relative theme of each line. The poem was written in a bastardization of skaldic poetry (because true skaldic poetry is really complex) that has 8 lines per stanza, 5 and 6 syllables per every other line, each sub-stanza of 4 lines rhymes, and 3 syllables of each line are stressed. Those familiar with Norwegian will notice I dropped some e's in some words (re: kald, Mån, sist)--if Shakespeare can make up words, I can drop a letter to make the syllables work. Sue me. (But you won't get much lol).
