Athough Geothermal was my favorite track in the game; I think this track came out the best. I threw it together rather quickly, and moved on to the next track. After listening to it a few days later it stirred many memories about the game up in me. I remember getting to that part for the first time after taking the ride out, and letting the world be ravaged by the Doctor. My determination to do whatever I could was greater than ever…
Track 20: "Moonsong"
My Cave Story recomp OST project. I have all of the tracks mostly mixed and mastered. I'm going to try and finish the final touches on every track sequentially, and release one every day. When I'm done I'll add a link for the OST in it's entirety fully tagged.
This all started when the Wii version came out, and I was speed-running Hell. I became frustrated (like ya do) and decided to switch over to the Wii music to see what Running Hell sounded like. Like every one of the new songs it was rather atrocious. Did they even try?!? So I decided to do my own remake of the OST. I started with Running Hell, and kinda never stopped.
You'll notice I didn't do too much "remixing" of the existing material, because let's face it… The OST was near sonic perfection as-is… I did what I felt at the time, and I'm rather pleased with how it all played out. You'll also notice there are no fade-outs. I don't do fade-outs. They've always made songs sound unfinished to me.

I love the beat and orchestrated stuff, but something about the instrument used for the main melody is putting me off. Maybe it could be an octave higher or a higher pitch. It's just a personal nitpick though.
Wonderful work regardless.
On a side note, I have a friend that I've been showing your work to. He's a huge fan of Cave Story and likes most of your work so far. He was looking forward to Moonsong over anything else. I don't think he'll be disappointed.

Hah! That's funny… I actually spent the MOST time on this one. Orchestrating, mixing, and mastering took up a lot of my time before I was satisfied with it's awesomeness. It's really cool to see different impressions between people when it comes to art. Although I think it's the best one I did it turned out to be like 3rd favorite in my fan/peer-base. They say my version of "Running Hell" is the best except one guy who's obsessed with "Balcony."
Sadly, the awesomeness doesnt flow in my blood for this remix. Its a great thing you did spending a lot of time on this. I have to say one of the best people who can play this song, is GermanSeabass on yourtube. He is "the" best person to play MoonSong, cheak it out!
