Once upon a time Griff was on top of the world and riding a wave of success to the top of the ranks at 'Beast Battle Wrestling'. He achieved a great milestone winning the heavyweight title by capitalizing on a mistake by the current title holder at the time. However his time on top as one of the youngest BBW Champs was embarrassingly short as a technicality allowed him to be challenged for the belt two days later by a Stag who had taken a medical leave and been promised a title shot when he returned.
The match was an absolute one sided beating that seemed more about humiliating the young Bear than anything else. Getting thoroughly stomped into the ground to end a 48 hour title run broke more than the Bear's body. Stuck in a chronic losing streak since then with each opponent finding new ways to cheat, beat or embarrass the Bear and drop him ever lower into the pits of jobber territory. Griff maintains that he doesn't need to resort to dirty fighting to get back to his winning ways, and avidly expresses his disgust at the underhanded tactics used by the growing list of fighters that have subdued him.
This philosophy is of course picked apart by critics when Griff loses a clean fight, or the rare chance that Griff breaks his own code and takes (or at least attempts) a cheap shot and gets soundly defeated anyway. The cheers of his fans as he soared to the top have started fading into mocking wolf whistles and laughter as his matches have devolved from contests of athleticism into exhibits of slapstick humiliation. Griff yet soldiers on through it because bottom line there has to be someone he can still beat....right?
