WIP Bai Bao and Reginald Dancing full shot
Decided to create a tender moment for my two characters Reginald and Bai Bao. Wanted something heavy with emotional layers to it. The story between these two is wholesome, but not without its heartache.
Bai Bao has a tragic past with memories that haunt him and fill his heart, mind, and soul with guilt. He had believed that he would never love again, nor could love again. Reginald is timid, sheltered, brought up in a land where love between two men was never seen, and never spoken of other than in the context of it being not natural. For Reginald, everything he was brought up with conflicts him, but being with Bai Bao just feels so right, like a breath of air he never knew he could take. Bai Bao makes him feel warm, safe, strong, and cared for. When he's with him he feels uplifted, like the world is just so much brighter, and less scary.
Bai Bao feels the love Reginald gives with his whole heart, pure, unchanging, unconditional, and it makes his own heart feel things he never thought he would feel again. But not without pain, guilt, sadness, longing, regret. All these things fill the bear's head when he looks into those innocent and beautiful eyes. This love he feels, it scares him, and the fear of losing it again is nearly crippling to him. So he tries his best to keep himself closed off, reserved, and distant. But his own heart keeps him from remaining too distant.
Reginald can't understand the sadness he sees in the panda's eyes, and he wants Bai Bao to open up to him, he wants to be there for him the way the bear makes him feel safe. He wants the panda to feel he can talk and be vulnerable with him, to know he's loved and cared for.
But those walls are strong, and deep. Bai Bao's heart is locked uptight. Yet, in the simplest, and most sweetest of ways, Reginald seems to be able to make the walls crumble.
