A small Cerotan life-form, similar ecologically to Earth's wading birds. The bloated tail-bud provides balance even when not engorged with young polyps/ Genetic hormone sludge. The primary sensory tendrils face frontal, and are mostly scent-sensitive, to detect pockets of quick-breeding worms living amongst volcanic water-pools (These worms being, along with the occasional carrion, it's staple diet)

Secondary sensory tendrils along the back alternate between photosensitive and photo productive, and are mainly used as a way of communication between individuals- Though they are always found in small flocks, they have no social structure and each grouping is a collection of lone organisms who all know where the food is.

The tendrils can produce small flashes of light, to indicate where they are. They only do this sporadically, however, as to constantly produce the light would effectively blind them (As the photosensitive cells on the tips would only ever pick up their own glow)

They are very fast, and thus their own natural predators are airborne (Along with a few large aquatic cave beasts) - As there is little on land that can out run them amongst the boulder terrain around the rock-pools.
