A treatless Halloween
I remember when I got neighbors that would give me box of raisins, steamed veggies and various types of fruit when I went Trick or Treating ... back in the 80s... Some people still do that. -_-

"Trick or treat for UNICEF!"
That is honestly something I can get behind because the origins of trick or treating were with the druids where they would go around accepting donations form people a little bit like what the buddhist monks do today. I would say that you have it set up so that you can give both candy as well as charity money to the children.

The main issue with healthy treats on Halloween is most parent automatically distrust them and throw them out. It used to be a thing to get caramel popcorn balls from some neighbors, or candy apples, or other homemade treats. Without exception, my mom would toss them all in the garbage, no matter how well made or wrapped they were.
Yup, that was the thing. It wasn't very widespread; one or two crazy people trying to make trouble and hurt people for no reason. Was also a few people poisoning the stuff they made in various ways. Mom used to toss *anything* even vaguely suspicious; even the packaged stuff was checked and if it wasn't sealed well enough for her, out it went.
When I was a kid there was a guy in the neighborhood who worked for a comic book publisher, and he would give each kid five or six comic books. That was pretty good for not being candy. Though we found that the best ones seemed to be going to the houses that were really out of the way, and therefore didn't really expect trick-or-treaters at all. Ended up with things like full sized candy bars and dollar bills that way.
