Fictober 2021 27: “You could have died!”
Gloria let out a low moan as she started to wake up. The yellow anthropomorphic earth pony gritted her teeth as she felt like her head was full of molten lead. She tried to lift her hand to her forehead to wipe away the sweat but it was restrained somehow.
She blinked a few times, the bright light searing into her brain for a moment as he blurry vision cleared. She stared at the unfamiliar white tiled roof for a moment. Her mouth was dry as a desert as she croaked out, “Where am I?”
A familiar brown stallion leaned over her, reaching out to brush a few strands of hair from her eyes, “Ponyville General. You’re probably gonna be here a few days.”
“Water, please, C.B.”
Coffee Bean nodded and picked up a glass of ice water with a straw and held it out for the mare. She started to drink so greedily that he had to pull it away from her.
“Easy now, Gloria. Don’t want to end up throwing up before the water can do any good.
“What happened? Why…?” She looked down to see that her arms and legs were in leather restraints tied to the sides of the bed.
Coffee frowned, “You’re being restrained to make sure you don’t hurt yourself. I hadn’t heard from you for a few days, so I stopped by yesterday to check up on you. When you didn’t answer I peeked in through your window. I saw you passed out on your kitchen floor, surrounded by pill bottles.”
Gloria chewed her bottom lip, “I didn’t overdose intentionally. I was taking each of the supplements exactly as the instructions said…”
“Except that every last one of those bottles blatantly said not to combine supplements! What were you thinking, Gloria? You could have died!”
“I was desperate, okay?” She snapped at him, “I was sick of being so damned short, of everyone literally looking down their noses at me. When I heard about this place called Trivial Matters that claimed to help people like me. So I ordered a supplement.”
“You actually bought into that snake-oil they’re selling? Gloria, I keep telling you you’re…”
“Perfect the way you are, I know…” She tugged at the restraints that were starting to chafe her wrists. “You keep telling me over and over again.”
He huffed at her a little, “So, when this miracle drug didn’t work?”
“I ordered another supplement,” she murmured, averting her eyes, “and another, and another.” She started breathing a little heavily as the beeping of her heart rate monitor picked up speed.
“Easy, just relax, Gloria.”
She struggled against the restraints for another moment and there was a low creaking noise from the bed. The leather strap restraining her right hand snapped free and she lifted her hand to her face. Her eyes widened as she swore she could actually see her fingers lengthening, her palm growing more broad as the cuff tightened painfully around her wrist before snapping.
“Coffee, what’s happening to me?”
He just stared as she started to fill up the bed, the restraints snapping off one by one as she stretched slowly taller. Slowly, she rolled out of bed and stood up as the growth seemed to stop.
Her hospital gown had mostly snapped open up the back and hung awkwardly over her neck and shoulders. It barely managed to keep her decent as she looked down into the eyes of her close friend.
He stared in awe up at her, “I… I… I think that snake oil actually worked!”
She clapped with glee, ignoring the heart monitor’s steady beep as the wires connecting it to her fell away. A nurse rushed into the room to see what was wrong, saw the towering mare, then turned on her heel to find a doctor.
Gloria wrapped her arms around Coffee, bending down a little so he could rest his chin on her shoulder. He sighed happily, relieved that she was going to be alright.
Slowly, his chin was pushed upwards. He thought at first that she was standing up, but he felt his arms slowly being forced apart as well. His ears twitched at the sound of tearing cloth as Gloria slowly let him go, a look of shock on her face.
Her hospital gown tore and fell away from her growing form. Blushing a deep red beneath her fur, she threw her arms in front of her breasts as her tail swung around to hide her privates, “Coffee! I think we might need a doctor, fast!”
He just stood there and watched her head rise higher and higher, ducking her head as it bumped into the ceiling. Within seconds she was forced to kneel in the room, then slowly lay on her side, curling up as her swelling body rapidly filled up the empty space. A doctor threw open the door and was greeted by the sight of a huge and still growing yellow furred rear. She curled around Coffee as she felt the walls around the starting to give.
Coffee blinked as he was surrounded by the gigantic, growing mare, “Maybe when you wished to be taller, you should have been more specific!”

This cracks me up because, I understand it, “snake oil” products didn’t actually have snake oil, but they did have capsaicin, which still worked to help with sore muscles and other minor issues that it was advertised for. So, it does work to an extent.
A large extent. xD I think we’re gonna need a bigger hospital gown.
