Four years ago today, Super Mario Odyssey came out. It's kind of become a tradition for me to make an anniversarial piece for the game. This time I came up with a cool-looking way to include all the _legit kingdoms without having to fully draw all these characters!
It was engaging choosing captures to represent each kingdom. You could say there were choices that more definitively represent the kingdoms due to their exclusivity (e.g. the Tropic Wigglers in the Lost Kingdom, the Moe-Eyes of Sand Kingdom, the giant shmeat Podoboos in the Luncheon Kingdom), but these aren't the first memories that come to mind for me. Like, when I think of Sand Kgm., my mind doesn't go to "🗿". I flash back to that scene in the trailer when they were showing off the power of Capture for the first time and Mario got to blast off as a Bullet Bill (or as a rocket but that's besides the point). Also, I strongly associated the Glydon with the Lost Kingdom, but I have since been informed that he's actually probably native to Tostarena. Man
