Its easy to forget that a lot of battles start here. In a room, much like this. With leaders like me and my crimson friend. many only really think of the actual battle with its many spectacles of blood and violence. only focused on the soldiers that fight it, and not the ones who planned the moves before hand. who decided where the troops would stand, who they would fight, and how to fight them. And while you can make the argument that a brave soldier can turn the tide of battle. A hundred good soldiers led by a competent leader can win wars. Especially if the leader has more strategies that just "charge at the enemy, try not to die". I'd like to think I'm a fairly competent leader, and I know that my friend is quite the strategist. but do you think you have what it takes to outsmart us?

There's not really any point to be doing that, especially in the time period where travel can take days or even months...no plan survives contact with the enemy, and chances are by the time you actually get there, the situation's going to have changed so much that whatever pre-planning you did will be half-worthless.
Very true. often times in periods like this it would be best to make the plan when your closer to your destination. but at the same time it doesn't hurt to do so as to get an idea as to the terrain you mite be fighting on, consolidating strength, as well as arming and training your soldiers. And while it is true that no plan survives first contact, a good leader is always willing to adapt to an ever changing battlefield
