Riding hood's shadow 10
After she had recovered her strength, Maria got back up and pondered as she watched the fish swim around. There had to be someway for her to catch them.
Soon afterwards she realized that they tended to hover around the more shaded areas along the shore.
She walked along collecting some leafy and fallen branches she could find. Making a curved wall with the branches then filling them in with the leafy sticks which she placed her bucket on its side at the end of. Before covering the water above it with some of the spare leaves, so the bucket was fully shaded. She then stepped back to see how the fish would react.
Sitting on the shore she watched the fish slowly wander back into the area and seem to inspect the shaded area she made. They didn't go near it for a while but slowly a few investigated. Maria held her breath as kept watching, slowly sneaking over to the bucket and reaching into the water slowly and grasp the bucket's handle. She could see a few fish swim in and out of the bucket and once saw one swim inside she yanked the whole bucket out of the water as fast as she could.
She got drenched with the flying water but did fling one of the smaller fish out of the water. It bounced around on the grass, making its way back toward the water. Maria made a dive for it and grabbed at the slippery fish. Eventually she did manage to grab hold of it and stood up, overjoyed with her achievement, spinning around happily as held it.
Once it stopped flopping around she slid it over a stick so she should could carry it along with another bucket of water. wringing out her cloths from the water as much as she could before starting back to the cabin.
After she left the watching creature emerged from the forest and looked down the pathway she had taken before sniffing around where she had been. He was still confused on what she had been doing over here that seemed so interesting. Leaning over the water, he didn't notice anything of real interest and poked at her makeshift fish trap a bit with his claw. What a strange person, he thought to himself.
