Really amazingly old art
Ok, so here's the story. Synge comes over a couple weeks ago, and he says "your phone isn't working." I say it is, and he says "There's this really bad hum on the line." Which I knew, but didn't know how to fix. Synge says he does. So we trace the wire back to the back part of the basement, and he sets about attacking my patchbox with a screwdriver.
While he's doing that, he jostles this pile of boxes, and a piece of old cardboard falls off the top and smacks me on the head. I pick it up, and here it is. Amazing old art, from way bacl in the back corner of the basement, where my teetering stack of ancient art sits. I may photo the stack someday. It used to all fit in a filing cabinet. Now it's stacked atop the cainet up to the roof. t's even caused part of the wall to cave in, from the weight.
Anyway, back to the image. As you've probably realised, the signature oesn't say Chris Sutor, or even Cobalt. This is because, way way back in the murky depths of time, before i discovered furry fandom, I went by the name KILR0Y M00T (those 0's are all zeroes. In the 80's, zeroes had a line thru them, which was way cool) That was my handle on the local BBS boards.
The second thing you should be noticing now is the outfit the bat guy is wearing. It should look vaugely familliar. Yes, the vest, speedo and wristbands combo was something I used on several diferent images, before I ever even dreamed up the idea of Cobalt the Delos. A fact you'll see if you'll now follow me over to part two of this little walk down memory lane...

Oh, I forgot to mention - the images was done in ink on what appears to be hand-cut cardstock or bristol board. It was rubber-cemented to a thick iece of grey cardboard, probably to keep it from wrinkling when the watercolor gouache was added. The brown spots are where the rubber cement has started to eat through the paper.
The rubber cement also failled spectacularly, despite being so deeply embedded in both the artwork back, and the cardboard. The paper slid right off.
