It's funny because I did like the first chapter of Deltarune, but never as much as Undertale. It was still confusing since it was starting and focusing too much on showing characters, there wasn't too much lore yet albeit mysteries and things you guessed will become plot points later, my favorite UT characters didn't appear as much if not not at all, I didn't find it as funny as UT, I found the main characters not very attaching (Susie grew on me only when she redeemed herself but the whole chapter she was just a typical bully, I found and still find Lancer annoying even if cute and I already said what I thought of Ralsei) and that secret boss everybody fawned absolutely not interesting, I forgot the score, I couldn't stand several characters (Rouxls and in fact I still do, Berdly etc) and otherd were uninteresting (Noelle to the point I forgot about her dad in the hospital) in short I was not disappointed I DID like but it was kind of "forgettable", I didn't even have any favorite character since no new character was memorable to me, so I never drew or memed about it not feeling like it. THEN came chapter 2 and it was excellent. I recognized the UT touch and in fact for a single chapter I found it as entertaining as UT for similar yet different way. Kris who was bland yet creepy in the end turnt put now very interesting with how they suffer because of us which added a new philosophical guilt tripping aspect to the game like Toby Fox did with UT that actually feels worse (a good way) than a Genocide Run for me, in fact that new Genocide Run which I didn't play is actually more unsettling than the one in UT since it adds a possession/manipulation aspect, the humor is hysterical, I liled the score and LOVED some songs, Susie since she is now redeemed and adjusting herself into being a better person becomes very cool, even Ralsei makes me want to know more about him since he turns out kind of sus, EVEN Berdly I couldn't stand now kind of become sympathetic a pathetic way in the end, NOELLE SWEETIE WOULD DIE FOR YOU I FOUND YOU UNINTERESTING AND SO WAS YOUR SHIP WITH SUSIE IN THE 1ST CHAPTER NOW I LOVE YOU AND LOVE YOU TOGETHER, lore is starting to become apparent and very teasing, THE CLIFFHANGER IS LEAVING LE HANGING, the villain without being perfect was very funny, supporting characters get more interesting and we can't wait to see what will come next, I finally have simping material with Swatch and the Swatchlings, and in fact I finally have favorite characters in the characters of Swatch and the new secret boss Spamton because even if I was annoyed by him at first actually playing him had me find he had much more character (comedy, creepiness and tragedy as well as mysterious past detailled enough for us to guess what happened) and potential than Jevil, and it actually makes me VERY curious about his and Jevil's fate and what will it be with the next secret bosses. And now I have headcanons, ideas, I already meme'd and drew etc. In short, I liked the 1st chapter but loved the 2nd chapter with the same nostalgic boost that critic must have felt when eating Rémy's ratatouille, and I can't wait for chapter 3
