It is very hard to grow now. It use to be with interesting works and ideas or unique styles. Now it just feels you have to know certain people or do certain things. NSFW, plethora of fan art, hell in some cases you can just trace some one else's stuff and people will follow you.
Don't be afraid to experiment. Maybe reach out to other creators for ideas and or just fun stuff. There are many artist now trying to make a living off art and only so many willing to throw money at it. If I was making more I wouldn't hesitate to throw some at you. You make amazing and adorable work. Some times you have to dig empty holes to find a little bit more water. You'll do it one day dude.

I'm the same with you when it comes to nsfw. I just recently gave up on drawing nsfw cuz it drove me up the wall. I would advise against this and focus solely on what you love to draw- but you are certainly free to try it out ..
I hope you figure it out lad. I really do like your personal work..

NSFW isn’t exactly what brings in people and money though - I know nsfw artists roughly around your skill level, who share your struggles or have it far worse.
Attention/exposure is something idiots promise but aren’t able to give; but it is something you need. Since ads don’t work though, the only ideas that come to mind are basically just ‘warmup scribble’ tier memes and shitposts - that showcase the life of your work and quickly piggyback on whatever the current meme is, but you only spend 5 minutes of effort on a week

Don't give up on RU, man! Who cares if those people are getting more views because they draw porn? The attention they get from it most likely isn't the kind of attention you'd want anyway. You found your niche and have a dedicated fanbase who loves your current content.
All I'm saying is don't do it if you don't think you'll like drawing it. Don't worry about what everyone else wants, because the people here want to see you have fun doing what you want. Don't chase bigger bigger follower counts, man. Keep and appreciate the ones you already have

Ru, your art is beautiful and you have a distinct style. I've followed you for ages and it's surprising that you're not more popular, so I can understand your frustration when you see doodles on twitter get a lot more engagement. I love both your ru and your zu content so it's sad to see that you feel like you need to focus primarily on one or the other.
Maybe whenever you open commissions next, you can slap on a $50 NSFW fee or something. Don't be afraid to raise your prices. This way your fans can support you, and those that REALLY want to see you make NSFW have an opportunity to get that content, but only if they're willing to put their money where their mouth is.

If you intend to grow your audience and reach, working solely on original content, especially if you spend so much time on them, would not bring in much attention. And if you believe you are small, then that is a lot of effort wasted for what you think is a small amount of audiences you have.
People gobble up media and artwork in an instant, hardly taking the time to appreciate the effort and quality placed in then. Which is why often times manga are in black and white, or if they're in colour, simple details. Whatever that helps to pump out the quantity.
Sometimes, quantity is better than quality. People will eat up quality art just as fast as they do with scribbles. If you think making NSFW content will bring in more growth, then you should know that you are not bringing audiences for Ru, you are bringing horny people.
If you want to grow, collaborate with other artists (usually of mutually agreed, similar caliber, perhaps having more reach), make fan art, meme art, all depending on your tastes. Anything that gets people's attention, that will get trendy on Twitter's algorithm (twitter promotes quantity, engagement, relevant trendy/popular tags.)
Make your original content but remember that it alone will not carry you. You should also be aware of the websites you use, FA tends to lean towards NSFW content, DA leans towards artist's galleries, Twitter leans toward constant engagement. Knowing the nature of each site's focus or community tastes will be helpful in catering your audience appropriately.
Having many sites does not mean doing the exact same thing on each site. Maybe on DA you want to have more SFW works, FA will be more experimental on NSFW if you wish to, Twitter will be more for sketches, doodles, scribbles, small little pieces of art not worth the gallery submission. These are just ideas and suggestions, how you want to go about it is up to you.
Each site will have more of one subject of side art. But you may (and should) still upload your main art, original contents, on all

Okay, this is slightly better. I interpreted the ultimatum as "If I do NSFW this entire account will be deleted and all art of RU will be deleted as well. She(?) will never have existed." I immediately voted to continue SFW because of that. I'm not changing my vote though; I'd rather you continue to make SFW content.
I don't normally post comments from this account, but I thought I'd chime in.
I see a lot of creators growing not just because of NSFW, but because they design good adoptables. You look very talented to me. Perhaps you could make a couple adoptables a month? It would also bring in extra money for you.
Regular fanart also brings in fresh interest.
A lot of artists periodically do free art raffles on Twitter as well. A person has to follow you, like your post, and retweet to be added to the raffle. You offer whatever art you want.
If you want to be more visible to the algorithms on social media, especially Twitter, make sure you're commenting, liking, and retweeting other posts. It increases your visibility.
I'm sorry you're struggling so much. You are clearly talented and deserve more eyes on your work than you currently have.

There's no reason to stop doing what you love, but for places like twitter, growth comes from engagement. Engagement is volume of content not the type of content or quality of the content. And also a not so insignificant amount of luck. Just do not force your self.
As for NSFW content, it may look like a stable source of growth but it's risky to invest a lot of effort into since it's future on places like twitter is in doubt and along with being a highly saturated market already. But don't be afraid to experiment either.

I'm trying to share your voice as much as I can... I don't have a lot of reach yet though... I'm sorry you have to go through that é^è I truly don't want you to fall into not safe without liking it... I know way too much the cost of it...
You're one of the 1st artists I discovered as I fall into art on the internet, with deviantart, you're as much as an inspiration for me as Yuumei! I don't have money to help, but I'll do all that I can. People care for you and your work, RU means a lot éwè As some says, not safe is not as financially stable as it could look like... There's other ways, we just need to find them °^° To find what works for you

I know I won't make much of an impression for you man but all I can say is this:
I know how it is with other artists, I have artist friends that go through the same thing. "My art is bad." "They have more views and likes yet I have more followers." etc. You can adapt to other types of art if you are comfortable with it. Just know that Ru is one of the reasons I found your gallery. So to me Ru isn't dead, just not as focused. Don't forget little Ru please for us. We understand the decision, but we don't want to see little Ru completely gone.

I see allot of Artists both ways, For as long as I've watched you I've ALWAYS loved your art and honestly the wholesome feeling to it and the environment surrounding Ru and the family. I totally respect your choice of what you're doing.
Although I hope you keep in mind while you're drawing nsfw; that if you even start feeling worn down, Stressed, or start disliking art. Drop it INSTANTLY. Go back to doing what you love, not what others are making you do for the financial and numbers outcome.

Draw what you enjoy and feel energy towards, not what's popular unless it's the only way you can make ends meet. This fandom will completely murder any sense of being an artist you have just so they can see some naked bodies, and not really care how you the artist feels about it. I've even seen some porn artists get driven out of the fandom by entitled, sex hungry types who went as far as threatening RL violence against said artist because 'they were drawing it wrong! It should be more like this, so do it!' Even when you give some people what they seem to want, those people can flip on you, so try to consider what kind of people you're catering to, and don't let them steer you too far from your actual passion for art.
I know that feel about seeing worst styles get better attention because they do a lot of nsfw art but yours a jewel to be honest, way pretty and beutiful even if you don't make nsfw. From first day I saw your art I was impress so I keep saying you are such a good artist and wish you the best in the future. I will keep supporting you from the distance. You are cool.
You are one of the best of the cute artists with a very unique style and ability to make fun stories. Money is rough, I'm still deep in my emergency fund myself. Quarantine/Remote Work is also pushing a lot more need for personal entertainment which for many is NSFW... but maybe you could also sell some books of your stories. Most of all though is don't give up on what you love.
