Riding hood's shadow 12
Once she was satisfied with the amount of sticks and branches she had been able to shove into the wood box she inspected the area around the cabin's clearing.
There was a high overgrown area out back and after a little bit of digging through the growth she could tell this used to be a garden area. She worked hard in clearing away the plants and piling them up neatly first. Uncovering a long unattended potato plant in one of the corners. She excitedly dug around and found that it had quite a few hefty potatoes and many smaller ones. Happily humming to herself as piled the potatoes she could find into the water bucket.
Once all the overgrown brush had been removed she inspected the area. The soil hadn't been tilled in probably years and was stiff and solid at this point. She had seen an old hoe along the side of the cabin, but after all the years left to the elements it was completely useless now. Maria tried the next best thing she could think of, gathering up water in the bucket once was emptied and a sturdy branch and started the long process of breaking up the soil. It took a while to break into the soil dirt at all, as she dug and slowly added water to soften the soil. She was completely focused on her work as the creature watched. Sunning itself on the cabin roof and watching her work. First she had been stabbing the water and now stabbing at the ground, what was this villager even thinking? It pondered as silently watched.
Maria worked on the small plot until the sun was going down. Panting she wiped her forehead and looked over her work. She had been working hard for several hours and only about 1/5 the plot was done. She'd work on it again the next day and went inside. Finishing off the fish broth she had made earlier and soaked her sore and lightly bleeding hands from using the rough branch for tilling for so long. She stayed up a little before leaving the small fire to die out on its own in the fireplace as curled up in bed. From all the hard work from the day she fell into an exhausted sleep quickly.
