For this year's Thanksgiving, I wanted to pay respects to the Native American community. I know this usually upsets some people, either from Native Americans themselves or the bigots, but I still want to pay tribute to them.

Native Americans did so much for the colonists in the early days of British, then Independent America. Then, in later years, the ancestors of the colonists took almost everything from the Natives. It is a shameful legacy that should be confronted to avoid similar experiences in the future. We should confront all of the U.S' darkest decisions. Thankfully, I did learn about this in School. There was a time I wished I had Native American blood before I came to respect my Eastern European ancestry. I hope that we can keep the Native American cultures alive, so their legacy will always be remembered.

To all those in the past who may have been wronged even when they themselves were generous, thank you. I will never forget you.
