Legion is originally a demon from the Bible that Jesus exorcized out from somone while he was doing his Jesus in '00 tour.
*Insert The Exorcist reference*
"The power of ME compels you!"
*end The Exorcist reference*
A man came to him after being possessed by numerous demons. Jesus asked the demon inside, "What is your name?"
The demon replied. "Legion, for we are many!"
Legion then got this wonderfully grotesque appearance and first started making the rounds as a boss in Castlevania games. It is a large and massive ball of soul-less bodies that cover a core with several tendrils that shoot laser beams and fire.
To beat:
1) Hack off chunks of the bodies to reveal the tendrils and core.
2) Slash at the core while dodging the beams and fire from the tendrils.
3) Be careful. That core can be tricky, and once broken, it might create a giant made out of white light, the Nuculias!
Appearances:
Castlevania: Symhpony of the Night (PS1)
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (Smaller enemy that can curse Nathan. Looks VERY different)
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (Comes in Fleshy body and rotting bone versions)
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (To get his soul, hack off all the bodies before going for the core!)
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (Legion in 3D, and also creates the NASTY Nuculais. Hack all the chunks off to steal from the core)
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. (The Symphony of the Night version returns, this time with new tricks.)
Also, Legion was mistakenly named "Granfalloon" in the PS1 game. Granfalloon was a word made up by Kurt Vonnegut to satirize "group think".
That's your lesson for today. :)

P.S. Any chance of using other Castlevania bosses for (de)motivational posters? :D

It was called "Granfalloon" as probably an attempt to cover their asses so religious zealots wouldn't try and rip them a new one for using an obscure demon from the bible.
"Granfalloon" was actually a word made up by Kurt Vonnegut (Ice Nine and many others). It was a term he used to describe group think. Somthing like:
"If you want to know
What's a Granfalloon
Simply ask a group
of buffoons!"
Not quite right, I think, but close.

See above, and I've actually been working on the Castlevania Wikia to try and track down and chronicle the real names, the Japanese names, and basically everything you ever wanted to know about Castlevania and the creatures in it. :)

P.S. Oh yeah, and for "Granfalloon", see above.

(WARNING: SPOILERS]/B]) Whew. Creepiest boss ever. My first encounter with it was in Aria of Sorrow - I got to the Underground Cemetery and went "Why are all these dead people coming out of the tombs? ...And why can't I kill them?" Then I saw the local boss and went "AGGHPLLUAG". =^.^=
([B]SPOILER TRANSMISSION ENDING)
Anyway, nicely done!
