And one for his medieval counterpart. Ral's picked up some white magic since last we saw him, and re-classed into a War Monk. It's the closest thing I've got to Ral's specialties from a Fire Emblem perspective without either being mounted (Malig Knight) or incorporating Eastern designs (Dread Fighter). Anyways, lore time, woo!
Ralus von Lyron was born into a noble family whose blood is renown for birthing powerful fire mages. Ral was no exception, and was quickly enrolled into the Sienna School of Sorcery. Ralus was a natural as one would expect, but as much as he loved the schoolwork, he hated the way his fellow classmates would look down upon the commoners. His parents wouldn't let him befriend commoners, either, which caused Ral to become more and more distant from his family. When he had time away from his family, Ral would use his allowance to buy a wooden axe and play war with the commoners behind his parent's back. Word quickly got out, and a bitter argument ensued, leading to Ralus being disowned at age 14. His parents had more faith in their other two children, and thus kicked Ral out. The now homeless Ralus was left wandering the nearby forests. One fateful night, he was confronted by bandits looking for gold. Despite Ral's best efforts, he was quickly overwhelmed and almost lost his life, when a mighty roar overtook the thieves. A bloodied Ral looked up to his savior: Zaladar, an older lion, chased away the ruffians, and decided to take in Ral as an apprentice. The lion was a former kingdom general who tried to live a peaceful life after his service, but couldn't stand not fighting, deciding to become a wandering mercenary instead. With Ral under his wing, Zaladar taught the young dragon the way of the axe, some hand-to-hand combat, and, despite not wielding magic himself, how to use Ral's fire magic in unconventional ways to gain the upper hand in combat. After a couple years together, Ral split off from the lion's merc band, wishing to form his own. With the help of Dhaxon, a no-nonsense blue dragon with combat experience from an officer's academy, and Victor, an aloof, former thief who wants to redeem himself from past misdeeds, the trio formed their own mercenary group, the Phoenix Force. At Ral's disposal spell-wise are Fire, Bolganone, Ragnarok, and Meteor. For support, he has Heal and Rescue. Ralus tends to get a bit gung-ho with his spells, and the collateral damage he can cause is infamous throughout the land. He's trying to get better about it though. Even with his nobility stripped away, Ral still enjoys a freshly brewed cup of tea as a relic from his childhood. Despite everything, Ral tries to send letters to his parents, but are always returned to sender. Zaladar, on the contrary, receives Ral's words with glee.
