Chapter 14: Neighbors

Kate nodded and Dani almost winced, “I’m 25 and its still amazing to me that 18 is legal age. I remember being so bloody young. No offence, but you almost seemed like a kid yourself, at least to me”
“None taken, uh so this isn’t your first kid then? I thought you were my age.”
“No, I’ve had a few, adopted them all. Never wanted to do a show like that till I started racking up debt faster than the govs checks were paying it. The show was a” Dani blushed and shook her head, “A necessity I’d rather not repeat”
Kate nodded considering the subject closed and tried to continue dinner. They learned that the pair were moving in and splitting bills half and half unlike Kate and Eric where Eric was paying for the house himself to make sure he owned it outright. They had been slowly trying to transition into a more normal relationship and were so far doing decently well.
After dinner was over Kate and Eric said their goodbyes and headed out. Walking together back to their own house. Not willing to let the awkwardness come back on the way home like it had consumed her on the way out Kate managed to find words this time, “So, we should untie dan I guess…”
“Perhaps we should.” Eric admitted, “Anymore and it might be kidnapping.”
