I see things, just from time to time. I don't mean, like, hallucinations, more like little flashes of insight. They're not actually in my field of view as they are simply overlaid in my mind's eye. In those treasured moments, the layers of reality peel back just for a moment. I can see the connections of people to loved ones, the flicker of impossibly thin gold threads that link them to the world. I see the aura that speaks in colour about a person's sorrow or joy. I see structures of energy that ebb and flow in the world. Sometimes, I even get to feel the pulse of the universe itself.
But most of the time, all I can perceive is myself, like my subconscious wants me to sort my own shit out first, but lets me see from time to time, when I really need it. Just little things to keep me going, little reminders of things that can't be expressed in words. Things I need to see.
I just wanted to share a little piece of what I see. Bare to the world a bit of my underlying structure, an abstraction of a layer of reality that people rarely get to see if ever. A little gift, that, to be honest, took a couple days of summoning up the courage to finally channel to visual media.
I'd appreciate if you guys could hold back on the critique on this one. This is a personal piece. I already know the pose ain't much, mood might be fubar, composition is probably off. I just needed to get it out
And yes, this was inspired by the works of Alex Grey, minus the psychoactive substances. I absolutely adore the man's work

That reminds of this thing I read in a book. In the book, ther are people called meddlers that can see the stings of fate and meddle with them. I love this piece and suggest you check out the books here's a link to the first book in the series http://www.shelfari.com/books/44221.....enstance-Found
This is brilliant! Not just for what it shows but what is represents. I'm glad you decided to share this with us Strype. I brings happy tears to my eyes that you are not bound to the wheel anymore. And that is worth more then any praise or any other achievement of this world.
I like the idea of Fire Elementals that are about emotion and life energy, not all "Rar angry rar". This is really cool. Plus ditto on the weed stuff there too. I don't have visions or whatever, but I'm pretty sure my perception of the world is a bit off from what most people experience.
I understand you a lot better than you probably believe I can. I'm not the same, but I'm similar. What I see, on the rare occurnences that I see anything, is more connected to emotions.
You though, haha, you're really somethin'. You see something closer to that life itself. That's... quite amazing, honestly.
I'm a bit envious of you.

I know of what you speak. No two who have such insights have them in the same way, but I have known some who see them. To gain visual insight, even just glimpses in the mind's eye, must be amazing. My own gift is very different; to convey it visually would be very, very challenging.
This speaks so much deeper than "awesome work" can even conceivably cover.
Those of us who can see past an artists work, into the small piece of themselves that all whom create what wasn't previously there invest in their work. It feels there is a big chuck of you in this.
I;m honored you decided to share this man.

I see visions like these from time to time...I usually think of them as nothing more than my mind playing tricks on me, though. I know that if I delude myself into thinking that what I see is actually something more than just my mind playing tricks, I'll be on another spiritual search to discover what my true existence is and such related esoterica. If I have questions for which I'm looking for answers to, I will find these answers regardless of whether or not they are correct or not. The human mind can become desperate for something to believe in, something that will make everything make sense in the world, so much so that it can be clouded in its own desperation, leaving oneself in a perpetual delusional state, in utter denial of the truth that may so very easily exist all around them.
Maybe I'm just overcomplicating things. Or maybe I shouldn't try and spark up spiritual/philosophical discussions on a website dedicated to drawn depictions of anthropomorphic fantasy creatures, heh.

Okay, Strype, I think this is particularly impressive. Yeah, this is coming from someone that generally goes fan-squee about your art (even if I don't always comment), but I'm not just talking about the artwork itself. I think it's really nifty that you can be open enough to put something this personal out here for us to see.
I can tell you put a lot of thought into what you wrote on this one, as well as what you drew. You aren't the first person that I've heard describe things like this, sometimes using similar terms. Based on that and on my own experiences, I'm pretty firmly convinced that life has a very real mystical/spiritual side to it, even if it tends to be revealed in glances and glimpses more often than it is something predictably perceived.
So...thanks for sharing!
