You've waited time and again, seemingly every moment this time of year rolls around, for him - at his favorite café, waiting for him to return with your drinks. He always found some solace in that place. Always taking his time, always sitting and staring out the window, watching people and traffic pass on by. The only time he doesn't is when he's with you. He never says why, only that the café is 'familiar'.
The dinging of the door bell causes you to shake your head, awake and aware once more as he approaches you, "I know, I know - late again." Chuckling with that ever present smirk, with a single drink, "One frappuccino for you. Don't worry about me, they didn't have my usual...again, heh" He closes his pensive, tired eyes and shrugs nonchalantly. With as much stress as he deals with, lack of coffee is the least of his worries. Least he remembered to get you something - still needs to work on his timing though.

Has never once minded waiting for this sleepy eyed, handsome, humble possum. Besides, the mouse likes this cafe as well, especially this time of the year with the color show that the autumn brings. That crisp scent of drying leaves in the air, each little breeze causing them to rattle and more than a few to cascade to the ground and give a tiny contribution to next year's abundance.
Sitting in a little outside dining area off to one side of the cafe, he perks an ear when he hears the ding of the door bell. His face lights up at the sight of the possum approaching. Every little smirk, each briefly exposed little overbite, each tilt of the head, and a thousand other tiny mannerisms that the possum himself never even notices yet the mouse always does. He could spend all day simply watching him being himself.
He blinks out of his trance-like state when his friend speaks. "You know I never mind you being late." Though he does look a bit concerned that his tired possum didn't get a caffeine fix for himself. "They're already done with the pumpkin spice? I guess its all about Xmas now."
He takes the offered frappuccino, letting his own pink paw brush along the other's a few seconds longer than necessary. A simple touch that conveys a million words.
He knows his friend is under a great deal of stress and doesn't get much sleep. But today he will do his best to help him forget all of those worries, at least for a little while. Though their time together is always fleeting, shared moments like this always makes it worth the wait.
