This is a little video i put together last year to get a job at a local production company.

Try this one if the playback seems choppy:

I reckon the whole thing was a nice experience, even if it didn't actually get me the job.
I noticed i didn't actually post it here... I'd do the '10 version, but i have no computer to do it on, so this'll have to make do for the moment XD

Some constructive comments just because there was a major discussion on demo reels where I work just recently.
1. Too long. Most places will look at a reel for 30 seconds tops unless they see something that interests them. Put your most impressive stuff at the front so you grab their interest, try to keep the entire thing around 2:00
2. Don't repeat sections, they've already seen it once, they'll remember if you're "recycling" footage just to bulk out your reel.
3. Despite the opening title card being timed nicely to the music, People looking at reels aren't going to care how nicely animated your name is. Get it up there and get on with the reel, that's 20 seconds you could have been impressing them.
The graphic design section with the card rotations was, for me, by far the most impressive.

Awesome, finally some constructive criticism. :D
It may look like i repeat sections, but there is no equal footage.
Since i'm still a rookie, i hadn't got much to work with, and showing all of my material for the same film in a consecutive manner felt a little dull, so i just cut and mixed sections of the same three films intermitently.
Maybe i should've used even less footage; which could also help the "too long" issue (which i totally agree with).
I totally agree on your third point and i knew that would be an issue. i found myself nervous for 20 seconds while absolutely nothing happened on the screen. Looking back on it; quick and dirty seems to work better on demo reels, rather than slow and crafty.
Definitely true points to work on for my next reel. I appreciate it :D

Ah, that I figured. I'm thinking a shorter, less-flashy, more information-heavy approach could give way to much higher results.
So, possibly for a future demo reel, you might try taking the flashies down a notch. In my unprofessional opinion, I think wonders might be worked.
