My video editing software has been acting up on me for the past year or so, but until now I was able to find work-arounds to keep it going, but it looks like I've run out of solutions. I have an even older version of Vegas Movie Studio on my computer but it's slow and laggy AF on my machine so I dunno if that's a viable alternative either.
I have this program running fine on another computer upstairs (which is what I used to edit my latest video: https://youtu.be/1NEDW84-bg4), but the set-up is kinda awkward as it was designed to be a "home theater" computer, not a "work" computer.
So until I can either get this fixed or find a more efficient set-up, expect new videos to take a little longer to edit.

Well the version 13 (the one that won't open at all on my machine anymore) takes 2 to 4 gigabytes of RAM. My machine has 8 gigabytes. The older version is version 8.0 Platinum, and I'd have to go dig out the box to find its RAM demands.
The issue I've been having with version 13 only started a little over a year ago when suddenly the video preview window started glitching up and became its own separate tab. That tab would sometimes close itself or crash and I wouldn't be able to open it again. Next time I tried to open the program I'd get this message. My solution the past few times it did this was a full system restore, but now my computer won't recognize any restore points before the 31st of October this year. I tried using that restore point but it didn't fix the problem.

Not through Sony. They don't support older versions of their programs. When I tried using the "send problem report" option it insisted I just buy the latest version and stop using the current one altogether.
I know a few people who used to work tech support but they like everyone else just keep trying to insist that I upgrade anyway.
