" Invader Zim " is an odd creation. Yet, an incredibly interesting one. At least, that's how I see Jhone Vasquez's work. Indeed, it is undeniably very edgy and tends to rely heavily on the grothesque and dark humour. Despite that, I, one, enjoyed this series quite a lot. Why? Because it's entertaining. I firmly believe that this is the most important aspect of any show, no matter what genre it is or what subjects it wishes to tackle. A lot of people say that they want a deep and intricate story with a complex plot that gets their brain working. I get what they're trying to get across. But, if everything was like that, it would all be as dull as a lecture on the history of corn. Sometimes, it's better to turn off your brain for a bit and enjoy something that amuses you or something you can resonate with.


Regarding the series itself, my favourite aspects are the art and the humour. I adore the stylized and bizzare character designs. Cute designs are nice and all, but it's bad to push from time to time the line and create something more groovy and weird. The voice acting is fantastic, especially Zims'. Why is this important? Because this enhances the humour a lot. And, not gonna lie, I'm pretty found of dark humour (with limits of course), especially if it creeps me out a bit.
