Walking amidst the trees, a breeze kicked up and all at once the trail was peppered with sound of the branches overhead releasing a mass of even more golden and browned leaves to join the others on the ground. The other sound was that of a cheetah kicking his way through piles and piles of the seasonal arboreal refuse. With the sun already setting, the air had a very slight cool bite to it. Breath barely visible. The cheetah bundled himself further in his jacke,t looking from one side to the next, and decided to walk off the path into some obscured outcropping where the leaves had piled up and then he did the only thing that a being is compelled to do in a situation. He flopped immediately back down against it.
His faith that there was not some rock or other object seemed to have paid off as he landed with a soft among the leaves, which continued to land around him, ushered by the persistent breeze. Here it was, the perfect break that he needed. Nothing would compel him to move from that spot, maybe the cold eventually. But it was nice, just laying here with absolutely no responsibilities for now.

I had what I would call an incredibly busy fall. It was a blur and I had so much going on. Of course when one compares it to the year before where most of us were at the height of lockdown, I guess anything would seem busy. But whether it was working excessive hours, or visiting friends, or job interviews, it was just a whirlwind. In a good way I think. Just a little bit scary to see time going by so quickly. In any case, one of my outings was a return to Albuquerque, and it really got me into the autumn spirit even though the season is only within a month of ending. And this was the result. Quite happy with it. The artist captured the colors of the season excellently, and then the cheetah... goodness. What a great depiction. In any case, enjoy!
