I headcanon that Rouge is in her late 20s and has A LOT of relationship experience, and even though Shadow is physically 50 years old, his mind and his body are still 15 years old!
Basically, Rouge treats Shadow more like a son (or maybe a nephew? cool aunt Rouge?) and is more than willing to help him thru his lost teen years! And that includes talking about boys!!
