Depression is a beast, a dark, insidious beast that IS a sickness. It invades the mind, the heart, the soul, and the strength to fight and want to keep going.
It is a black worm in the light.
It may pull you into the darkness, but forget not, that you are stronger, you have the light, the FIRE inside of you to fight it, as hopeless as things may seem at times...
Don't let the world, or that black worm destroy your light, or extinguish your flame.
I've been fighting...no...warring against the darkness of depression trying to drown me for over a month now, nearly 2 months...since September 22nd. I've let it consume me, let it pull me away from others and silence my voice. I haven't been okay...then I remembered the Phoenix. Even in the darkest hour it can rise from its ashes and start anew. It can start over, recreate itself, and rise from that hopelessness.
This mythical bird means a lot to me...it's a symbol of endless cycles, the dark and light, but in the end, the light, the FIRE comes back, and as hopeless as things may be sometimes there's always light at the end of the tunnel.
Your tunnel may be long, may have so many twists and turns that you feel like you're losing your way, but keep going for that light. You'll always catch a glimpse of it, even in the darkest of tunnels.
I hope you keep fighting...because the world needs your Light. <3
