Just wanted to draw something badass and fun! In the process of painting this one, but don't have a lot of time to devote to art at the moment.

I like the spiralling composition, but I'd curious to know if you would call John Schoenherr an influence.

Schoenherr was never one for details, but for dramatic compositions and a sense of massive form, he was great!

Hehe I know it drives me crazy when I see a typo I can't fix.
I had a instructor reccomend me to look at John Schoenherr's work for perspective, at the time all my drawings seem to be lacking in diversity of object size and that made for a bland composition. So yeah there's some compositional influences there!

That's great!
Artists can learn a lot from illustrators, who often have a deeper knowledge of technique. I'm glad to hear of instructors who recognize this benefit.
Hell, I'm no artist, but I'd like to believe that I've learned a few good points from John Schoenherr:

Oh definitely! an idea can only go so far if you don't have a way to execute it.
Don't have to be an artist to be able to identify and appreciate what makes great work :)
That is really unfortunate that Schoenherr passed away though :/ First Frazetta now Schoenherr. The great masters of sci-fi fantasy will be missed.
