I'm happy you like it, Tod. I often find the best way to write characters who'll be liked by others is to come up with ones I like too. I constantly want to give Tessie a hug and do naughty things with Erik. Or was it the other way around? I forget. Oh well. Thanks for the comment. ^_^
I'm happy you like it, foxy. ^_^
If the novel I just finished is any indication, the Code Drop novel will probably only have 2-3 sex scenes in several hundred pages. I'm more willing to have sex in stories online because it shows folks that there will be sex in the book and it attracts readers. Furthermore, if actually done right, sex scenes can be as effective a means of developing characters as anything else. Like anything else, though, they can be overused. :)

I figured you didn't mean it like that. :) In the meantime, you can check out the novel I'm currently finishing: Sixes Wild.
You can find the original stories that spawned the novel here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2964152/ And more stories in both series will be coming out soon!

Plot? There was plot in this story?
I'm happy you liked it. :) These Code Drop stories are meant to stand alone, so they tend to be marshmallows: sweet, small, and mostly fluff. They're intended to promote my larger story in Heat, and perhaps even a novel in a year or two.
If you'd like something with more substance, I'd recommend Adept Paws: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3086196 It's my fantasy series and has a large, over-arcing plot concerning ferrets and the end of the world.

golly, this was absolutely adorable. you can really feel the love and passion inbetween Erik and Tess....wish I had that with someone......and you can really relate to Erik....some men, anyway. I can since I act a LOT like him. although my life's gotten a little more serious now that I've chosen a career goal. ^^ that's a world I wish I could live in...the world in your code drop stories. hopefully when 2012 comes, that'll be the next world :D
Oops! I thought I'd already replied to your comment.
I'm very happy that you can connect with my work, RJ. When I write, I try to write the sort of story I rarely get to see. Erik and Tess are a great example of this. There seem to be very few quiet, genuinely nice guys in yiff stories-- more often they're either totally aggressive and dominating, or completely submissive and yielding. Most people aren't this extreme in real life. The same goes for Tess-- I wanted to write a badass female character, but needed to show she has a heart too, otherwise it would make no sense that Erik would be attracted to her.
Another thing that I feel I don't see enough of in furry stories (and online stories in general) are real, meaningful relationships. Reading stories like that reminds me that other people want the same basic things I do out of relationships: trust, love, affection, etc.
And it's funny you should mention that year-- 2012 is when I'm hoping to release the Code Drop novel.
Please feel free to comment more. I promise to reply sooner than I did to this one! :D

hehe and that's what I love about this series. I kinda wish I was Erik, right now xD and I also suggested to Nyaasu that she be a regular illustrator for the CD series, cos her drawing style of Erik and Tess totally fits their personalities. I dunno how she feels about it, so you may wanna talk to her about it. if you're interested :3 heh
I saw that. Interesting idea. :) I've sent a note to Nyaasu, but it's been several days and she hasn't gotten back to me. We'll see once I hear back from her however!
I think it would be cool to have Code Drop illustrated, and it might attract more attention that way. Furries like pretty pictures.

Yet another humorous (found myself chuckling uncontrollably when reading about Tess struggling through her shitty day. The first two sentences alone are quite ingenious) but nonetheless romantic and ultimately touching chapter. Erik and Tess make a great couple as they both have their own distinct personalities. Tess seems to be the more virile or masculine one of the two, ironically. With a slight tendency to get jealous, evidently (as in the chapter Powder Hounds, but the kangaroo had it coming) But I can understand her. A guy like Erik needs protection.
But still Hanna and Tess seemed to be getting along in the end. And the end scene with Tess and Erik alone in the car was awfully cute. With the risk of sounding very cynical, writing a stimulating furry story that has more to it than just the normal fappity fap parts is an endeavor few authors accomplish. But yeah, you do.

This is another chapter where Erik's naivety shows through. He's basically oblivious that anything is wrong between Hanna and Tess. X) When I first started writing Code Drop, I worried that not only would Erik seem too perfect, but that Tess would seem too flawed to be likable. I'm glad to see that my efforts to balance them out have paid off and people like them both. : ) And yes, Tess is definitely more masculine than Erik in the traditional sense, being more forceful and aggressive. Part of this, though, is just her defense against the world. As the series continues, I hope to see her loosen up a little as she comes to trust Erik more and more.
I always try to include vivid moments here and there in my stories and I'm proud you like the ending on this one. ^_^ And yes, I think furry authors sometimes limit themselves by thinking that all stories need to have sexual content. One of the things I've learned as a furry writer is to view not worry too much about whether or not there is sex in my story (many mainstream authors don't seem to care much either way). If it's a good story, people will read it either way.
Thanks again for all the comments! :D
