Always seems to be this way. Noone ever tells the power rangers: "no thanks! We have a giant orbital death ray we've been itching to try out."
Eh, if I wrote it, i'd probably do a comedy version later where the friends turn out to be entirely capable of taking care of the monster by themselves and he has to step in to save the poor monster. Or possibly a line like:
"Okay, see, if you'd just asked, i'd have just come out and got it with my plasma cannon and we could all have had candy and cake, but no, you had to go all dramatic on me...."
