Cyus had gone and done it now...The island representative looked over his billings again and again, jamming numbers into his calculator and seeing the result in disbelief. “Ohhh no..nonono there’s no way...”
Fresh off getting his terraforming permit and a huge sale on a batch of turnips, the villager went on a landscaping frenzy, laying down paths, carving cliffs and rivers, building bridges and ramps all to beautify the island he and his fellow villagers called home. He was dead set on building the idyllic paradise of his dreams!
“A few trees here, a red steel staircase there...maybe an opposite blue steel one to match...oh and some zen bridges too!”
Cyus was gonna get that 5 star island rating in no time! His animal neighbors were fresh out of donations, but that was fine, he still had a ton of bells to blow through! He could finance the whole thing himself if he had to.
Alas, it so happened his savings ran dry just as quickly.
Cyus was near-bankrupt; only a few hundred bells remained in his account. Turnip market prices also happened to be at an all time low, further limiting his choices.
While there wasn’t any risk of his ongoing projects being shut down, having all those scaffolding and unused materials lying around could definitely harm the island's rating. He could go back to catching bugs and pulling out weeds, but it’d be weeks, if not months before Cyus would fund a single bridge.
He needed bells, and needed them now.
A ping from Cyus’ NookPhone caught his attention. Something new in his mailbox? But
he didn’t order anything...
Cyus stepped outside to retrieve his mail to find a letter addressed to him:
“Hey there, chum.
Heard ‘ya been havin’ some bell problems as of late. Nook said you were tackling on some debt...Yer’ a reliable fella, so I got a proposition that’ll solve both our problems in one go. It’s urgent so I’m willing to give a hefty donation on your current projects.
If yer’ interested, meet up with me later tonight. Still got a lotta shoes ta’ shine.”
-K
The tone of the letter sounded pretty familiar, and shining shoes? Must’ve been Kicks!
With daylight fading fast and little options left, Cyus went out to meet with the skunk.
...
“Allo, Cyus! Glad ‘ya made it. C’mon in.”
The skunk was quite relieved to see him, welcoming Cyus inside before firmly shutting the door.
“N-no problem Kicks, always glad to help. So...what’s the situation?”
Kicks walked over to a nearby closet and rummaged through it. “Well, tomorrow’s when I usually sell my wares to you and the others. Thing is, I got some important business on another island ‘n need someone to cover for me, figured you’d be the right man for the job!”
“Uh...me? But I don’t know the first thing about—“
“No need ‘ta fuss ‘bout that! I got just the thing right...here! Catch!”
Kicks pulled a thick bundle out of the closet before tossing it to Cyus. The human fumbled for a moment, not expecting it to be quite smooth yet weighty. Unfurling it, Cyus’ eyes widened at what he saw. A rubbery suit that looked identical to Kicks, from his hat, to his overalls, down to his tail!
“Had it custom made by them Abel Sisters, impressed, aren’t ‘cha? Now go put it on.” Cyus was dumbstruck. “W-wha? What for?”
“Aww, don’t be like that, I’m sure you needed a job! Turns out I needed a partner! Just gotta hold out and cover for me for the first couple of hours, then I’ll be back to help out!”
The skunk walked back over to the island representative, pulling open the back zipper and goading him to put it on.
Cyus tentatively put an arm through the opening, hearing the suit squeak against his skin.
It was weirdly cold, but he couldn’t deny that it felt comfortable as the seconds passed. “The Abel Sisters kinda outdid themselves with this,” he thought, “guess it wouldn’t be too bad...”
Cyus sighed and looked back at the skunk. “It’s a deal. Just, help me into this thing, would ya?”
Kicks lit up, nodding before lending a helping paw.
The human soon found himself blushing a little as Kicks helped ease his legs into the suit’s tight, padded interior. He mentioned something off-handedly about how it helped with long-term use, but Cyus was distracted at the snug, comfortable fit. Soon, both his legs and feet were inside, his warm skin quickly being cooled by the squeaky innards of the rubbery skunk.
Cyus was made to stand up, hearing the squeak of his...no, the suit’s brown boots against the floor. They felt really thick, hopefully they wouldn’t be a challenge to walk in.
Kicks heaved the suit up and over the human’s backside while Cyus slipped his arms into the suit’s own. The skunky tail had a good weight to it, making it easier to balance, while his arms disappeared into the rubber, the sight of them replaced by seamlessly smooth, dark blue rubber arms, ending at white nubs that mimicked the fluffy animal assisting him.
“M’kay, gonna make some adjustments now while you skip the head on,” Kicks said, motioning Cyus to duck into the suit’s opening.
The human took a deep breath and plunged his head and neck inside, immediately greeted by the thick scent of rubber. Dark blue filled his sight and a cacophony of squeaky rang in his ears. He huffed and squirmed, inching his head up to align his eyes with the suit.
Meanwhile, Kicks chuckled quietly, paws continued pulling and pushing at the suit to smooth out any creases. Everything was going well...
He began to pull up the zipper on the suit.
Cyus strained a little more, the suit was starting to grow tighter to his body, likely because Kicks was zipping him up now. He was surprised that he didn’t feel stuffy in the slightest; any aches he would have had putting this thing on weren’t there any more. He pulled at the head, stretching the snout and muzzle here and there to better make room for his noggin. He was almost...there!
Outside, the zipper inched up higher and higher, Kicks slowing down for some reason near the top.
Cyus stretched one more time, before his head finally popped into place, relieved at the very snug fit. At that same moment, Kicks forcefully pulled the zipper up all the way, snapping it off, leaving the human oblivious to what just happened.
The skunk turned to look at his rubbery suited version of himself that Cyus now wore in full. “Great!” He beamed, “A perfect fit!”
Cyus nodded and Kicks gave him a pat on the back for a job well done. Unbeknownst to the human, Kicks was secretly stretching rubber over the zipper teeth, hiding them away and leaving no trace of an opening.
“Thanks! So, when do you give the payment?”
Kicks expression twisted into a devious smirk. “Ahh, you’ll get it soon enough. Once I let you out, that is...”
What??
“Though, it might take a bit more time than I first thought...” The skunk dangled the broken zipper tab in front of Cyus’ muzzle in response, before turning to leave.
Cyus immediately scrambled to pull the suit off, rubber stretching and creaking to no avail, snapping back to shape. His round paws made it all the more difficult to get a grip on anything, and he stumbled to the floor, pulling at the suit again and again.
Kicks turned back one last time at the struggling human. “Oh, by the way, you better start moving my items to the plaza soon, you know my hours are 5AM to 10PM, right? Better get a move on, Kicks~!”
