I chose this song as the second pretend-single because I had previously put up a demo already. (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3370839/)
It might be interesting to see where I went with that even if you don't like listening to the entire album. I put in the drums and bells, and the banjoplayer's part without any effort. Kept the in-the-moment mini-riff at the second 'chorus' because actually that was my favourite part of the demo. I worked a little bit on the singing. I recall that when I recorded this my computer kept crashing. So I think my voice was ironically pretty dead at this point, but I felt satisfied afterwards so I decided not to question myself.
To be a little bit self-congratulatory, I'm quite proud of the chord transition I went with between the verses and choruses. I find they work very well.
Civilisations fall and civilisations rise
Bet you didn't know beforehand you're not fighting for a prize
You know what's right and you know what's wrong
So what're you waiting for?
People dissing hippies and people pissing on the glass
Bet they didn't know their cathedrals wouldn't be sacred street art
You know what's right and you know what's wrong
You know what's right and you know what's wrong
Bring out the drums and bells
Bring out the banjo player's wise words
"No song lasts forever until that's over with"
You know that's right and you know it's wrong
So what're you waiting for?

Yes, the harmonic changes rock!
Well, there's something weird with this song, I can't quite put my finger on it, but do you at any point stretch a beat, it seems that there's a shift in the phrase to var ratio (I have no idea what to call it, but it's not syncopation... am I making any sense?)
Oh, your banjo sounds lovely! Did you put any low pass filters or anything?
Now there's one line from here that I'm writing down "Bet they didn't know their cathedrals wouldn't be sacred street art"... Heh, that's quite clever, to me anyway!

A stretched beat? I don't doubt the're some anomalies in there. This is pretty sketchy, and I'm pretty sure I have some in-the-moment changes here. The tempo also moves forward a little bit. No filters on the banjo, it's played pretty far down, so it's not so present. I'm glad you like it - I don't get the chance to use it often, as it's pretty unsuitable for picking up and writing a full song on. :)
Thank you, you're clearly a feline with good taste in lyrics. Obviously mine are extremely clever and tasty. :D
