"Mömbris, you've been fiddling with this crate for three hours now. Here, have a drink." Bongoyé refilled the other's cup from the pint he brought. Sweet-smelling honey beer poured into the tin cup like a foamy promise.
"Gods, three hours already? Not gonna give up! There must be a reason why everybody wants this piece of wood and steel.. or rather, the contents." Mömbris tapped the crate's steel frame. Not yet frustrated, but coming closer to it. A good number of her picks had already died on the battlefield of secrets. She had to grin at that allegory.
"Aye. But, five locks? What is this, King Koori's secret chamber?"
"Surely feels like it. It... wait." Mömbris sat up and thought. King Koori's infamous secret chamber was said to have a dozen locks, but only one would actually open. And so far nobody has found out which lock it might be. "What if all five are just decoys?"
"What is a decoyse?" Bongoyé wondered. Some words were still strange to him.
"Somethign to throw you off a track. What if..." The little gnoll stood up and went around the table to the backside of the crate, and started to feel the various pieces it was made of. Suddenly somethign clicked, and a formerly invisible piece of wood folded outside from the middle of a plate. It revealed a masterpiece lock's mouth. Mömbris grinned. "We're back to business!" Then she took the tin cup and drank a long, big swig of honey beer. "Now, this shan't take very long..."

I am incapable of making any meaningful noises beyond incoherent happy squeaks at the stories you tell. Thank you so much for these. In a sea of visually lovely but empty bodies in furry art, thank you for drawing and sharing hearts, minds, and stories.
I cannot possibly express how much I love that you do what you do.

happy squeaks are legit. :D
I try to do wnhat I would like to see done by others; it has been like this when I started to draw animal people for real way back in early 90's. and if there is a story behind it, all the better. :)
as with these four gnolls there were ideas early on when I saw the prompt list, and to go from random characters to a foursome with their own stories. the last prompt is "family" and if things go right I might do a mini-comic from when Alzey introduces them to her family... and her son.
