Another picture I recently got from

Virginia_Baker. This one is of Svetlana, the Russian werewolf fighter that I introduced in one of the Mercedes stories, even if she hasn't had a speaking part yet. A lack which I will hopefully get around to remedying soon.
Title because the filename was 'Volchitsa_na_ringe', and if I'm reading that right that's basically the Romanization of the Russian for that.

Probably sparring. She quit doing actual matches a while ago: as a shape-shifter the only real matches she could get into were either illegal underground ones or shifters-only ones. And she became disenchanted with the underground ones because of the sorts of people who tended to show up as the audience. She's more a rough-and-tumble scrapper than a serious fighter (unlike Ehoro who actually studied martial arts), but even rough-and-tumble backed up by a werewolf's strength can be dangerous.
And claws. There are also those claws.
The trouble with underground matches is the general inability to go to anyone for assistance if things happen to, oh, "not be quite on the level"... not without connections of your own, of course. (Aw crap, the muse got a thinking expression.)

On the other hand, the problem with being a shapeshifter in this world is that cameras need to be avoided, and illegal matches are the ones that have other good reasons to not allow cameras on site anyway.
Claws also tend to make it obvious that one isn't human, which means that fighting humans gets done without claws if you're trying to stay under the radar.
The main issue with all-shapeshifter 'fight clubs' is just that there's a much smaller population to draw from.

Was just thinking it aloud, honestly! Pondering "so how would this work out...".
... so many of my creative processes do not have the "hidden world" aspect attached to it so much. It's not a theme I've been much able to draw on, so it's not often where my mind dwells when thinking on these things :)

Whereas this entire world background pretty much built itself from "how would a hidden world be maintained under conditions where any reflection or indirect view shows the real form". Needless to say the simplest solution is complete separation, but that's not particularly easy to pull off either...
