Gus and Dane went through the SWAT selection process together both being selected to join Alpha team under Canis Wulfen, on the team they were partnered up and became great friends, Dane's Jovial spirit managing to crack through Gus's stern appearance, the two occasionally poking fun at the other. After an unfortunate accident one of the team members was replaced and Gus was Partnered with Valerie feeling they would compliment each other well, while Canis decided to promote Dane to his Second in command of Alpha Team, feeling that Dane has the Charisma and talent for a potential leadership position.
